Name:
Chesapecten nefrens Age: Miocene Formation: Choptank Formation Location: Calvert County, Maryland Size: Fossil is 5.2 inches across Price:SOLD
This is a fine fossil bivalve. It is a complete Chesapecten nefrens from the Miocene of Maryland. This large scallop has both valves intact - the valves have shifted slightly in fossilization, which is quite cool! Both of the ''ears'' of the fossil scallop are present, and the coarse radial ornamentation of the shell is easily seen. This is a wonderful example of this classic fossil scallop from Maryland.
