Name:
Chesapecten nefrens with Barnacles Age: Miocene Formation: Choptank Formation Location: Calvert County, Maryland Size: Scallop is 5 inches across Price:$18.00
This is a very interesting fossil. It is a large Chesapecten nefrens valve from the famous Calvert Area of Maryland. This type of bivalve is a scallop, as seen by the shape of the shell. The top side of the scallop had barnacles growing on it - the inside has a very nice luster. This is an unusual "fossil on fossil" occurrence from the Chesapeake Bay region.
