Here is a very unusual fossil echinoderm. This is a beautiful Spinadiscus lefebvrei edrioasteroid from the Ordovician of Morocco. Edrioasteroids were primitive echinoderms which consisted of a flexible theca composed of numerous polygonal plates. This edrioasteroid has very good natural orange color and excellent contrast. The fossil has extremely fine detail preserved - the plate structure is very easily seen. The edrio is extremely inflated and well showcased on the large plate of sandstone. This is an excellent example of this unique fossil echinoderm from Morocco.
