This is a fine specimen of Lycoptera davidi from the Jurassic of China. There is a distinct fossil fish on the slab. This fish has very good detail preserved - the bone structure of the fish is clearly defined. The natural, brown color of the fossil contrasts beautifully with the tannish-grey matrix. The fish has great form and is well presented on the large, natural plate of shale that also has the tail of another fish. This is a very fine example of fossil fish from the time of the dinosaurs.
